Ice Prince & Iyanya to make cameo appearances in Shuga.

The MTV Staying Alive Foundation and MTV Base have revealed that Ice Prince (@Iceprincezamani) and Iyanya (@Iyanya)will be making cameo appearances in Shuga, the award-winning sex-and-relationships drama.

BET Award winner Ice Prince andthe “Kukere” starwill both play themselves in scenes set in the Badoo nightclub, a regular haunt for the characters in Shuga. The announcement continues theShuga tradition of including hot and happening contemporary musicians and music in the series,following the cameo appearances of Banky W and Wiz Kid in series 2, and a cameo by Kenyan star Nameless in series1 .

Commented Ice Prince, "I am so grateful to the MTV Staying Alive team for offering the opportunity to continue to express myself in new and different ways as a dramatic actor in Shuga."

Added Iyanya, "I am so thrilled to be associated with Shuga and to have this chance to help the MTV Staying Alive team communicate important public health messages in this exciting way.”

Fusing sexual health messaging with gripping storylines, Shuga is part of a powerful 360-degree mass media campaign designed to raise awareness about HIV prevention and teen pregnancy in Nigeria. Key themes covered by the series will include: living with HIV; disclosing your status; getting tested; condom use; gender based violence; gender equality; women’s empowerment; family planning; teen pregnancy; transactional sex; multiple concurrent partners; stigma and discrimination of people living with HIV; and parent/child relationships/communication.

Shuga - Lagos will premiere on MTV Base (DStv Channel 322) on 1 December 2013 (World AIDS Day) and will subsequently air on multiple TV and digital platforms around the world.

Shuga is produced by MTV Base and the MTV Staying Alive Foundation in collaboration with NACA; the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation; and UNFPA (United Nations Population Fund). PEPFAR (The US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief) has also expressed a commitment to join forces with the campaign.
